Scheduling Considerations |
|
The Pro Processor can retrieve data from the JDC on a scheduled basis ranging from once a month to every 15 minutes. The default is to run once a day. It is important to understand the implications of how the JDC's rotation schedule and the Pro Processor's data acquisition schedule relate to each other.
If the Pro Processor is scheduled to run once a day, the time of that run should be well after the JDC's rotation schedule is complete. If the Pro Processor runs before the JDC has finished rotating files from the Access.log file into the .NLFs and .CTCs, you will end up with incomplete information for that day. Of course, the next day all of the previous information will be acquired, but then the data from that day will be incomplete.
It should also be clear that if you schedule the Pro Processor more frequently than the JDC is rotated, for example, every 15 minutes, it will gather no new data, since no new data will have been moved into the Normalized Logfiles. It is possible to set the rotation schedule of the JDC to run more frequently, but is not recommended for performance reasons.
